In 1962, the Herkner family began creating their famous fruit toppings from the fruit they harvested on their farm on Old Mission Peninsula in Traverse City, MI. Originally made by their parents and sold by their daughters at their seasonal farm stand, the popularity of these delicious toppings soon outgrew their farmhouse kitchen’s capacity and they began producing their products commercially for sale to customers, retailers and food and ice cream manufacturers throughout the Midwest.
In late 2015, one of their Advisory Board members acquired the family business from the daughters and embarked on expanding the Herkner Farms brand by adding additional topping flavors and new product categories including Gourmet Condiments, Jams & Preserves, and Sauces.
Last year, we were honored by the food industry’s leading publication, Store Brands, with three medals from their annual ‘Editors’ Picks Best New Products’ competition. Our Cherry Chipotle won the gold medal, our Peach the silver
